Bee Removal Photo Gallery

Westchester Wildlife specializes in the removal of carpenter bees, honey bees, hornet, wasps and yellow jackets from inside homes, buildings and on properties. Although, there are other types of bees found in the greater Hudson Valley area, these are the ones most commonly called about. If you have concerns with another type of bee not listed, please call.

Honeybees.
This bee is orange and black in color and has a dense coat of feathery hairs on the head and thorax. Their nests can become extremely large (15,000+ workers) and the honey production can ruin your home and attract other unwanted guests. If this insect creates a nest or hive inside your home or office it MUST be removed, the area should then be cleaned and deodorized.

Carpenter Bees.
Often mistaken for the bumble bee, this solitary bee is seen during spring time boring tunnels into wood (fascia boards, fence posts, deck railings, etc.) and laying eggs inside. These bees may attract unwanted woodpeckers.

Hornets.
Hornets are social insects related to wasps. They produce a paper-like nest, sometimes to close to humans. When they become a nuisance the net can be removed.

Wasps.
Wasps can become a problem when they build a nest inside your home (attic, chimney, soffits and window sills) and enter your living space.

Yellow Jackets.
Similar to the honeybee, this bee is usually yellow and black in color and does not have as much hair on the head and thorax. These insects will nest in wall voids but, they do not produce honey. These nests can simply be destroyed by an exterminator, but the nest does not need to be physically removed from structures.
