Deer Characteristics.
Deer are probably the most widely distributed and best-recognized large mammals in North America. Despite their economic and aesthetic values, deer also have a variety of negative economic impacts—they damage crops and personal property, and harbor diseases common to humans and livestock. Unlike moles, rats, and other species implicated in damage, deer cannot be casually eliminated when in conflict with humans. But neither can landowners be expected to bear the entire burden of support for this valuable public resource.

The most common complaint voiced about deer is damage to trees and gardens.  The most deadly encounters with deer occur on roadways.  Each year in the US some 200 people are killed and more than 25,000 are injured in car-deer collisions.

Deer Removal and Prevention.
A deer nuisance in the home can upset daily life and removing deer from the home can be even more challanging. Deer animal control may be essential for human health. Prevention is the first step. Some methods to keep deer off your property include fencing, mesh netting, choosing deer repellant plants, deer resistant flowers, trees and shrubs, scare devices and chemical repellants.

Deer are protected year-round in all states and provinces, with the exception of legal harvest during appropriate big-game hunting seasons. No lethal deer control can be initiated before consulting your local state wildlife agency. By law, some states provide technical assistance or direct compensation for deer damage.
